In partnership with our on-the-ground, local Oak Leaders, TSO develops Africa’s “leaders of tomorrow” using a proprietary formula involving these key components:

  • Recruit: Consult with a local advisory board to attract and select Oaks who meet TSO’s admission criteria.
  • Support Education: Assist Oak with university (or vocational school) registration and financially assist with tuition, books and living expenses.
  • Finance Internship: Arrange local internships in the Oak’s field of study, while helping finance the Oak’s living expenses until full-time employment is secured. Financial terms are often structured in the form of short-term loans, rather than grants.
  • Monitor and Mentor: Monitor the Oak’s progress using journals and life-plans, and ensuring local mentorship is provided by the Oak Leaders to help the Oaks stay on track with their goals.
  • Financial Sustainability: The end objective is for the Oak to secure full-time employment, become financially self-sustaining, and fully repaying any outstanding financial obligations to TSO.
  • Give Back: TSO grooms its Oaks to become future Oak Leaders within their communities, thus creating a multiplier effect in the home country. The principal and small interest they pay on their loans helps finance future Oaks.
