Sorry, we are currently not accepting applications for new Strongest Oaks.

An individual wishing to become a Strongest Oak (Oak) must meet the following criteria:

  • Has faced tremendous adversity, trauma or obstacles in their lives, including (but are not limited to) war, genocide, extreme poverty, discrimination, human rights abuses or HIV/AIDS or other diseases.
  • Is between the age of 17 and 29
  • Is committed to achieving at least one of the following personal objectives:
    1. Attend a post-secondary institution, if possible in his/her home country.
    2. Enter the workforce and establish a career within the next twelve months.
    3. Launch or accelerate a social venture to help others in his/her community.
    4. Launch or accelerate a for-profit venture that is currently in the start-up phase.
  • Preferably, has made a contribution to his/her community in some form, perhaps by volunteering.
